English, D.D.S.
- 2005

Our dear friend and colleague Dr. Charles E. English of Little Rock, Arkansas lost his valiant battle against cancer on November 3, 2005.  He is survived by his wife Sandy and daughter Meredith.  Dr. English, or Dr. E. as he referred to himself, was a larger-than-life character with the endearing traits of profound intellect, devout professionalism, bounding enthusiasm and down-to-earth personality.  He was tireless in his pursuit of professional endeavors, even in the face of failing health.  Dr. English viewed life, despite his disease, with unfailing optimism.  He was quite proud of how he had grown within his chosen profession after graduation from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1967.

Dr. English was an internationally renowned prosthodontist and implant lecturer.  He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration and the International College of Oral Implantologists.  He was the 1993 recipient of the Ralph V. McKinney, Jr. Award for outstanding authorship and education in implant dentistry.   Dr. English was recognized internationally for excellence in clinical seminars relating to MDI dental implants. He was a prolific writer, and during his career authored a substantial number of seminal articles and papers.

Dr. English was a dedicated and enthusiastic supporter of implant dentistry and of IMTEC Corporation.  Lecturing actively for IMTEC Corporation until mid-October 2005, Dr. English never tired of sharing his clinical experiences with others.  Dr. English will be dearly missed by IMTEC Corporation and by all who knew him.

“Charlie English was a brilliant lecturer and excelled as a prosthodontist,” said Dr. Ronald A. Bulard, Chairman of the Board of IMTEC Corporation.  “He was intellectually curious and it was a joy to watch him interact with other dentists.  He was widely respected and enjoyed a splendid reputation.”

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19 at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, Rev. Jim Miller presiding.  A celebratory reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Rock Council of Garden Clubs, Attn: Gazebo Fund, 1501 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72205.
